Scoring anything is a difficult and often very sensible topic. XeeScore is no different. Yet we made some conscious changes based on user feedback and our own observations.

What Changed?

Instead of combining the "social traffic" TO and FROM XeeMe we decided to track only the outgoing visits from a XeeMe to the respective social profiles and networks. We still do count all the visits including the ones TO a XeeMe but they do no longer influence the score. The impact is that those users who have primarily visits TO their XeeMe but only a few visits to their respective sites have a decreasing XeeScore. And to the contrary, users who have a lot of visits from a XeeMe to their respective sites and profiles experience an increase in XeeScore.

Why is this important?

You may have heard of the XeeMe Amplification Effect. It basically describes the fact that a well set XeeMe is getting on average 5 visits to the respective social profiles for every visit to a XeeMe. For instance if you have your Blog or LinkedIn account as a URL on your Twitter profile, you typically get that one visit to whatever you put there. If you use your XeeMe on your Twitter profile you have a good chance that the visitor visits actually more than one of your profiles. Hence the amplification.

Even though we (the XeeMe team) is proud of the visits to a XeeMe – YOUR real interest must be the visits to your various social network profiles. And as such we brought the XeeScore in alignment to what is important to YOU. A XeeScore of 5,000 based on lots of visits to XeeMe but almost no visits to the respective profiles is much worst than a XeeScore of 2,000 of which 1,500 visits where made to the persons social profiles.

After analyzing usage pattern we found quite a lot of XeeMe accounts with high inbound traffic TO XeeMe but a very low outbound traffic to the respective sites. And we saw lots of lower score XeeMe with a high outbound traffic to the profiles – which of course is all what XeeMe is about in the first place. 

What can we learn from the scoring?

The more attractive your Social Presence, the more visits you get. Pretty obvious, yet important to know. We looked at thousands of XeeMes and found the following pattern:

• Profiles with a short description are twice as often visited then those with no description
• XeeMe with a long list of different websites are less likely to be visited than those with many social sites
• XeeMe with 25 – 30 networks on the primary tab seem to be a good size and are more often visited than those with much less or many more sites
• XeeMe with an attractive background image show almost twice as many "multiple visits" than those with no or less attractive background
• Having only Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn on a XeeMe is not so compelling versus diverse social profiles
• Newer networks such as Pinterest, Twylah, Scoop.IT, connect.me are interesting
• Attractive social presences get twice as often visited from repeat visitors
• Not really related to Scoring but a nice stat: every second more than one XeeMe gets visited
